CENTER-TBI is a large European project that aims to improve the care for patients with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). It forms part of the larger global initiative InTBIR: International Initiative for Traumatic Brain Injury Research with projects currently ongoing in Europe, the US and Canada.

CENTER-TBI UK is part of an EU wide multi-centre observational research study that is trying to learn more about TBI and identify the most effective treatments. Prospective collection of clinical data Blood sampling for genetics, biomarker analysis and coagulation studies MR imaging at various time points Acquisition of high resolution ICU monitoring data Outcome assessments at various time points

Inclusion Criteria

1. Clinical diagnosis of TBI

2. Clinical indication for CT scan

3. Presentation within 24 hours of injury

4. Informed consent/consultee agreement received

5. ≥ 16 years of age

Exclusion Criteria

1. Severe pre-existing neurological disorder that would confound outcome assessments

2. Patients who may have difficulties in adequately understanding written or verbal information in English
